William G. Blum, MD, is Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology and serves as Director of the Acute Leukemia Program at Winship Cancer Institute. He is also a member of the clinical team in the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center at Winship. A board certified hematologist, he specializes in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, acute lymphoblastic leukemia and other myeloid malignancies. Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Blum was Professor in the Divison of Hematology in the Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute where he mentored hematology and medical oncology fellows, and junior faculty members.

Dr. Blum received his MD from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his residency at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Vrginia. He completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

He is an active member of several professional organizations including American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Alliance Cooperative Group for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He is cadre member of the Alliance Leukemia Committee and a principal investigator/study chair for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Beat AML Master Trial. He has been been an invited speaker at international meetings of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Hematology Association, and the Tandem Transplant meetings of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research/American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

Dr. Blum has co-authored more than 90 articles and 80 abstracts in medical publications such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Blood, and Leukemia.
