Dr. Lawson leads a program that incorporates the best of basic and clinical science with the goal of improving the care of patients with melanoma. To that end, he has established an active melanoma working group. The group funds seed grants for basic or clinical research, and also participates in and leads clinical trials at all phases of therapy development.
Dr. Lawson is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. He is a member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Melanoma Committee. He is a member of the American Society of Biological Therapy, the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research.
He earned his Medical Degree and completed his fellowship and residency at Emory University School of Medicine.

He has written and collaborated on numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the American Journal of Psychiatry.
