Biography

Dr. Suchita Pakkala earned her Medical Degree at the University of Tennessee after receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Rhodes College and her Master's Degree in Physiology from Georgetown University. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine followed by her specialization in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University.

Dr. Pakkala is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. She is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. She also holds memberships with the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

Research

Dr. Pakkala's research focuses on lung cancer in the HIV-positive population. The current literature is sparse in regards to optimal treatment for this population. Therefore, the goal of her research is to further define the clinical and molecular characteristics of HIV-positive patients with lung cancer.
