Dr. Bill Eley serves on the Council of Chairs and is Chair of the Emory University School of Medicine's Executive Curriculum Committee. He serves on the University's Campus Development Committee and the Faculty Sustainability Committee. He previously served as the Chair of the American Cancer Society's Council for Extramural Grants. He is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

Dr. Eley continues to practice oncology at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Eley is interested in racial disparities in breast cancer survival. He began his research career while obtaining a Masters in Public Health degree during his oncology fellowship. Dr. Eley and his colleagues were part of a national population based study, the Black-White Study of Cancer Survival, that evaluated differences in survival for patients diagnosed with breast, colon, uterine and bladder cancer.
