Soma Sengupta, MD, PhD, is a clinical investigator in the Division of Medical Oncology with a focus in neuro-oncologic malignancies. Dr. Sengupta holds joint appointments as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and in the Department of Neuro-Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining the clinical staff at Winship Cancer Institute in 2016, Dr. Sengupta practiced as a neuro-oncologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachussetts. She is board certified in psychiatry, neurology, and neuro-oncology. She collaborates with members of Winship Cancer Institute and the Emory Brain Health Center providing neuro-oncologic consultations.

Dr. Sengupta completed her PhD in Biochemistry and MBBChir in Medicine at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, a Neurology residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University, and research and clinical fellowship in Neuro-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard University.

Dr. Sengupta is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. She is also a faculty member in the Neuroscience Graduate Program of the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences (GDBBS) at Emory Laney Graduate School. She holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Physicians (London, UK), the Society for Neuro-oncology and the American Academy of Neurology.
